Cool people who make nice things: Johnny Flynn.

Last monday was heaven. I went to a concert of Mumford and Sons, DAMN I love those guys. But then the supporting acts: first Albatross. Lovely lovesongs on guitar, really sweet. And after that: JOHNNY FLYNN. He's like amazing and the cutest man alive. And he plays a lot of instruments, and he plays them good! I think I'm in love.

Yes, he plays the headpart in Crusade in Jeans. I noticed that later, which is strange. Anyways. You gotta love him.

HappyDayDare

Hello there,

I'm sorry I haven't put any sound under the footage I made, but I need to do my homework too. And I haven't slept verry well last night. Sooo enough excuses.

I made it with the only actors I have. No playmobil was harmed making this movie.

Playmobil tale. from Z on Vimeo.

This is the story:

It's just a regular day at school when Sophie tries to get the attention of Rick. She whispers something in his ear and points at Blue. Blue is an outcast. Rick and Sophie are calling all the kids together. 'Don't you think Blue looks good today, with his pyamatop still on!??!', Sophie screams. The teacher turns his head away. The kids went their faces and fists to Blue: 'Blue wears a pyama! Blue wears a pyama!'. Blue doesn't answer. He sees the kids coming closer and closer. He's scared, but doesn't show it. And that makes Rick mad. He punches Blue. Blue hits the ground. The kids laugh and realise the fun is over, they turn away.

That night Blue has an amazing dream. He's in a garden full of flowers and animals. They're all so kind to him. Then a dove strikes near. He places his claws gently in Blue's pyamas and flies away. Blue flies with him. They land on a toilet. The dove says: 'Wait here'. Blue isn't shocked. This is a dream, and everyone knows that doves talk in dreams. And then an alien appears. Blue is shocked. He collapse but she catches him and tells him this: 'I happen to like your pyamas, Blue. I happen to like your hair, your freckles, I happen to like everything about you, just as Mary does'. And then she kisses him on top of his head.

Blue wakes up with a smile when his father wakes him. 'Today's gonna be great dad!', he says happily. 'Good to know, son'. At school he walks straightly to Rick. 'I'm sorry that I didn't respond to your message yesterday. I happen to like my pyamashirt, as you like to call it', he says. Rick looks at him and starts to laugh. But it's a good laugh, full of respect. And then Blue walks to Mary and he asks her out.

And they all live happily ever after.

I know the story is lame. But I don't have time and words enough to come up with something amazing.

Next dare:
Get inspired by this:

Happy DayDare

Well, damn you Bobby. This one really sucked! (just kiddin')
Haha, so I tried and I tried but I don't even look like a male person.
So I thought what if I filmed love from a male's perspective?

Here we go:

My name is Daan. And I'm in love. This is my vision on love. Enjoy.

Time for a new dare:

I dare you, Bobby Blue, to choose a song. And make a clip by that song. In that clip you must take the lyrics of the song literally, so when the word baby is in the song, I want to see a baby, you understand!?!

Haha, Lotsoflove,

Z

Time Flies: Beatnik Style

Time flies, but then again times return. At least they do in fashion.

The funny thing is I'm gonna tell you about Beatnik, which isn't just a fashion thing but a media stereotype (so says Wikipedia). I first found Beatnik in one of my timeline fashion books. There was a picture of a girl drinking beer and she was wearing just a sweater and tights. Shortly after I found the picture, I got my new Elle. In there I saw a girl in just a sweater and tights. Beatnik!
The media hype thing started when Jack Kerouac wrote in his biography about a so called 'Beat Generation'. Jack was a sort of celebirty so the Times wrote about it, and other tabloids did this to. But what exactly is the Beatnik?
The term caught on because it could mean anything. Well that explains, not. It was everything that was cool those days. It could be a religion, as Jack believed himself. Beatniks threw parties were they drunk beer and stole each others wives. They were the pro-hippies. People took the term Beat and used it for anything close to culture, movies, music. Beatnik inspired Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan.
Last but not least, the fashion. Black sweaters, black tights, black berets and for some reason bongo's. Look outside of your window, love, you see it nowadays everywhere. Oversized sweaters rule. Beatnik is coming back? I hope so. It was an culture revolution.
More information:
Beat Generation - Jack Kerouac
The movie: The Beatniks
I could have posted this under Cool People Who Make Nice Things, because Jack did a very good job here. But I let Bobby do her thing to.

Food for thought: Heartbomb

Warning: This product is not good for your health. Eating to much can cause heartproblems or a high bloodpressure. Once or twice per month is more than enough.

Heartbomb *

Ingredients:

Rusk. (or a toast or something)

Salt (not too much)

Olive Oil.

You take a rusk (is it a rusk? I don't know. We use the word: beschuitje.) and sprenkle some oil on it. Use the oil wisely, but be sure the whole surface is covered with it!
Then drop some salt on the oil.
And tada you have a heartbomb.
Seriously, it's simple but I think delicious.
And again don't overdo it. Not to much oil or salt.
Next time probably something a little bit more difficult.

I heart: An Awesome Project

Dallas Clayton wrote a book called An Awesome Book for his son. He pressed them into thousands and send them all over the world. People loved it, adored it. And he started giving books away, in parks, in schools or just on the street. The book is about dreaming, and that's Dallas' goal: to let everybody: Dream Big!

He enjoyed letting people dream so much that he started a project: An Awesome Project. It's an american organisation that wants to promote children’s literacy by encouraging kids to dream and dream often! I think that's like.. awesome right?

For your information, see: http://www.veryawesomeworld.com/

And you can read the book here!
But it is an amazing gift, and an amazing project and Christmas is coming so.. you can also buy the book here!

DREAM BIG!

Collecting Dust: SMALL FACES

Collecting dust is about songs, fashion statements and more that are collecting dust in our minds and need to get back in the picture!

If I say Beatles, you say 'JUUUUDE (or something like that)'. If I say the Who, you say 't-t-talking a-about my g-g-generation'. But do you know what to say when I say Small Faces? If you do than I love you dearly. If you don't I still love you dearly but I want you to read this article carefully.

Small faces have brought us a lot. They were known as one of the biggest original influences of the Britpop movement in 1990! There are a few songs we have to remember. Does there ring any bell when I sing: It's all to beautiful, It's all to beautiful? Or: Lazy sunday afternoon, I got no right to worry? You have to imagine a perfect London accent by this text, though. 'Cause that's were the pals are from: East London! They're havely inspired by the American Rythm 'nd Blues (No that is not the same as the today's R&B). They started of in 1965, probably decades before you were born and millenuims before I saw the light of life. But thankfully my dad is an oldie who loves music like this more than he loves his wife and daughter (kiddin', well.. I'm not sure). He likes to tire me to a chair and have me listening to old music untill I like it, which is terrifying fast, actually.

Back to the subject. If you like Small faces, then you probably will like the Who and all of the other bands who were there like: The kinks (Girl you really got me going, you got me so I don't know why I'm going now), Paul Weller (You do something to meeehee), The creation (Making tiiiimeee..) and a few more.

Nothing Personal - Bobby Blue

Bobby blue is probably the most strange girl I have ever met. She looks like me in so much ways. Par example, we both dance strange. We both write strange. We both dress strange, she more than I do but anyways. You see! Bobby Blue is a strange girl, so she is the perfect one to start an online magazine with. She lives parttime in Amsterdam, so she knows what's happening. She has the coolest friends, does the coolest things. I do think that with someone like Bobby Blue in our team we can not fail in being trendy hip and cool (<- that's how dutch commercials would describe it. I prefer calling it:) TOF!

Well let's ask some questions:

Name? Bobby Blue
Age? 18
Religion? atheist
Don't you just love these passportquestions!? Uhmm..
Your passions? fashion, art, photography, movies, music, books
What is the last thing you bought? a black dress with shoulderpads and a white shirt with black stripes and puffy shoulders :D
How did you get your last bruise? probably from my bed. My knees are all bruised because my bed is so small.
If you had to get a piercing right now, what would it be? nothing. thank you very much. Do you think you're a good person? Maybe sometimes, most times I'm not.
The price of being a sheep is boredom. the price of being a wolf is loneliness. choose one or the other with great care: wolf then. I don't like being boring or bored.
Love will tear us apart or love will save us? loooooove love will tear us apart. Depends what kind of love you have, right? I hope it will save us, but it might tear us apart (doh).
What kind of girl/boy wants to be a fool? the kind that likes foolish things?
Batman or Spiderman? Spiderman! every time. Even though batman is gay.

Favourite:
- Designer.
I don't know. Karl Lagerfield because he looks cool? Viktor and Rolf because they're cute? Ashish because it had a cool collection last year?
- Artist. Lots. I like Warhol a lot, Anselm Kiefer as well, Arnulf Rainer, and right now Jolijn Snijders.
- Musician. Peter Doherty!
- Store. Museum bookstores, H&M and Zipper.
- Item in your closet. I don't know, I don't know. I really don't.
- Furniture. My bed at my parent's home :P
- Thing to cut things with. a really good pair of scissors
- Song. Right now I really like '3 rounds and a sound' by Blind Pilot. Of all time probably 'The Ha Ha Wall' by the Libertines.
- Day in the year. My birthday! 22 november if you want to know.
- Picture. (selfmade) - Movie. This is very difficult. I'm going to name a few: Control, Far Side of the Moon, Juno, Babel, Rainman, Mysterious Skin, etc etc.
- Work of art. there is a paintingthing by arnulf rainer that I really really like, but I can't find a picture anywhere. The dark blue version of Andy Warhol's electric Chair is amazing as well and Barnett Newman's "who's afraid of red yellow and blue" is pretty cool as well.
- Animal. cute cats.
- Thing to do on a rainy sunday. sitting on my bed, listening to music and drawing or reading a book. And then I want to go to my friends, have dinner there, watch a movie and talk until 6 in the morning.
- Word. verisimilitude.
- Sentence. Oh my giddy giddy gosh, I'm technicolour.
- Website. I could say my own website, but I'm not like that. So here's a little list: flickr.com, tumblr.com, baubauhaus.com, blogger.com, blend.nl, viceland.com, livejournal.com, dazeddigital.com, lookbook.nu, facebook.com, creativeoutput.net
Oui, oui Merci, Bobby Blue.
