I Heart Happy Newyear

Hello dear readers, (if there is someone there)

Tomorrow a new year starts, and we do sincerely hope that it wil be a good one.
But we do believe it will be a good one.
And a creative one, a funny one, a happy one.

AND
That we will inspire a lot of people with our weird ideas.

Thankyou and good night.
See you next year.

Food for thought: Heartbomb

Warning: This product is not good for your health. Eating to much can cause heartproblems or a high bloodpressure. Once or twice per month is more than enough.

Heartbomb *

Ingredients:

Rusk. (or a toast or something)

Salt (not too much)

Olive Oil.

You take a rusk (is it a rusk? I don't know. We use the word: beschuitje.) and sprenkle some oil on it. Use the oil wisely, but be sure the whole surface is covered with it!
Then drop some salt on the oil.
And tada you have a heartbomb.
Seriously, it's simple but I think delicious.
And again don't overdo it. Not to much oil or salt.
Next time probably something a little bit more difficult.

Fashion: Pretty Clothes 01

Givenchy S/S 2010

We're going to start with presents! under and above make me think of fancy and neatly wrapped blackandwhite presents that contain cool designer things.

Under is so amazing. If you'd see the fabric in a store you'd probably not buy it because you'll think: "I'll make people go crazy when I wear a skirt of that, if I'm making a complete outfit of it, people'll probably stay crazy for the rest of their life". But it's done so well here. really pretty.

Karl Lagerfeld S/S 2010

I need the under and above dresses in my life. They are so pretty and make the girls look like really expensive and pretty dolls.

Don't you think the girl above looks like she's standing in the shower/laying in bath and used a whole lot of soap?

I love these glasses (under and above), especially the weird arrowthing on the side.

I heart: An Awesome Project

Dallas Clayton wrote a book called An Awesome Book for his son. He pressed them into thousands and send them all over the world. People loved it, adored it. And he started giving books away, in parks, in schools or just on the street. The book is about dreaming, and that's Dallas' goal: to let everybody: Dream Big!

He enjoyed letting people dream so much that he started a project: An Awesome Project. It's an american organisation that wants to promote children’s literacy by encouraging kids to dream and dream often! I think that's like.. awesome right?

For your information, see: http://www.veryawesomeworld.com/

And you can read the book here!
But it is an amazing gift, and an amazing project and Christmas is coming so.. you can also buy the book here!

DREAM BIG!

Cool people who make nice things: Koltrast

Some people are cool even though they make pictures with their webcam and are probably a few years younger than me. The boys and girls on Koltrast belong in the category of 'cool'. I have no idea with how many they are and I have no idea what is said in the posts, but the outfits are amazing. Check it out here, and I'll give you a few examples:

Film reviews: Brothers

What? Brothers (2009)
When/where?
tuesday, 8 december 2009 in sneak preview, amsterdam
Director? Jim Sheridan
Who? Jake Gyllenhaal, Natalie Portman, Tobey Maguire
Story? Brothers is a remake of Brødre. Captain Sam Cahill (Maguire) is send off to afghanistan, leaving his wife Grace (Portman) and two daughters behind. When he goes missing, everybody assumes he's dead. Sam's brother Tommy (Gyllenhaal) spends more and more time with Grace and the kids. Grace and Tommy get in a relationship of sorts and the kids see him as a second father. When Sam turns out to be still alive and comes back, he's changed a lot and is suspicious of what has happened between Grace and Tommy.
Good? I thought this movie was really good. At first the people in the cinema didn't seem to be able to concentrate and I noticed that I couldn't really either. I figured it was because of the soundtrack; not your usual hollywood songs. I appreciate that they tried something new but I don't think it really worked because it didn't bring people in the good mood. Later on in the movie, it got a lot better. The acting was great. Especially Tobey Maguire played his role fantasticly. And let's not forget about the little girls in the movie. They made the whole thing a little less dramatic and little more funny and cute at times. Although there is one scene where they make everything even more awkward than it already is and you're biting your lip and shuffle around on your seat because it's so awkward. Amazing. I'm all for weird little kids, they're the best. The movie really shows that being a warhero isn't always sunshine, puppies and rainbows, that actually it's really hard most of the time. You should watch it and make sure you're not in a cinema with lots of noisy, horny teenagers who yell 'whore!', 'fuck him!' (not as in: he's a loser, but as in: I want to see sex) and other rude things that make you giggle.

Collecting Dust: SMALL FACES

Collecting dust is about songs, fashion statements and more that are collecting dust in our minds and need to get back in the picture!

If I say Beatles, you say 'JUUUUDE (or something like that)'. If I say the Who, you say 't-t-talking a-about my g-g-generation'. But do you know what to say when I say Small Faces? If you do than I love you dearly. If you don't I still love you dearly but I want you to read this article carefully.

Small faces have brought us a lot. They were known as one of the biggest original influences of the Britpop movement in 1990! There are a few songs we have to remember. Does there ring any bell when I sing: It's all to beautiful, It's all to beautiful? Or: Lazy sunday afternoon, I got no right to worry? You have to imagine a perfect London accent by this text, though. 'Cause that's were the pals are from: East London! They're havely inspired by the American Rythm 'nd Blues (No that is not the same as the today's R&B). They started of in 1965, probably decades before you were born and millenuims before I saw the light of life. But thankfully my dad is an oldie who loves music like this more than he loves his wife and daughter (kiddin', well.. I'm not sure). He likes to tire me to a chair and have me listening to old music untill I like it, which is terrifying fast, actually.

Back to the subject. If you like Small faces, then you probably will like the Who and all of the other bands who were there like: The kinks (Girl you really got me going, you got me so I don't know why I'm going now), Paul Weller (You do something to meeehee), The creation (Making tiiiimeee..) and a few more.

Nothing Personal - LiZa

I'm going to pretend I sat down with Liza and talked to her about life and asked her some questions. This is not true of course, but yeah..

I met Liza (with a Z) on a sunny afternoon in her hotel in Paris. She doesn't live in a hotel, but it's always cooler to meet in a hotel than in your own house. So we met in Paris. I was a little too early, so I sat outside and watched fashionable Paris passing me (the hotel was in the coolest part of the city of course). Exactly on time, Liza shows up at my table, wearing a skirt with delftsblue print, a jeansdress, black leggings and a black cardigan. We greet and get ourselves some warm croissants (it's french). Of course I already know Liza because she's my friend and she's amazingly cool, but because I know I need to get some information, I asked her some questions that I'd written down in my moleskine notebook (the notebook for the important and secret stuff).

BB: So, your name is Liza right?
Z: Yes, with a Z.
BB: I know. So, how old are you?
Z: 15
BB: Ohh you're so young! [insert stereotypegayboyaccent] I love it girl! where do you believe in?
Z: I believe in love!
BB: Very good. speaking of.. what do you love? what are your passions?
Z: Fashion, reading, art, writing, music.. This actually is all art. But who cares?
BB: I don't. not at all. What is the last thing you bought?
Z: A present for my uncle, tickets for Owl City in the Melkweg.
BB: Is that with the fireflies song? I love that song. And I love melkweg! oh my god. [BB touches Z on her arm like all the stereotype gayboys do.] Oh darling, what's that?
Z: It's a bruise..
BB: Oh my god! is it your last?
Z: yes.
BB: How did you get it?
Z: Probably scouting, people there are really really dangerous. [whispering] It could also be something I did because I'm clumsy but who knows?
BB: [giggles] on with the questions. If you had to get a piercing right now, what would it be?
Z: [shivers] I hate piercings. [thinks] uhh. through my ear for earrings, I don't have those.
BB: You still look fabulous though! Do you think you are a good person?
Z: I'm a good person. Is this selfish? Yes? Then I'm a bad person.
BB: Not selfish at all! I think you're a very good person. I got this from somewhere, listen up: The price of being a sheep is boredom. the price of being a wolf is loneliness. Choose one or the other with great care:
Z: I don't know where ou got this one from, I'd rather be bored than lonely. But then on the other hand, i can't make decisions.
BB: It's a quote from Hugh Macleod, if you want to know.
Z: Yes! Thank you very much.
BB: You're welcome. Love will tear us apart or love will save us?
Z: Love will save us.
BB: You're so optimistic! [insert stereotypegayboyaccent again] I love it girl! What kind of girl slash boy wants to be a fool?
Z: Those who wear long, relaly long fake nails, can't spell their name and talk really really loud.
BB: Batman or Spiderman?
Z: Spiderman! I like the Joker though. But Spiderman rocks my socks off!
BB: I love you! now some favourites:

BB: Designer?
Z: Marc Jacobs, Yves Saint Laurent, and so much more.
BB: Artist?
Z: I love all my friends who are artists, my dad is a great photographer I think. So I'll pick him for now!
BB: Musician?
Z: The Beatles and Kyteman
BB: Store?
Z: [she screams] Episode, bookstores.
BB: Item in your closet?
Z: My scoutingblouse!
BB: Furniture?
Z: The chair I'm in right now. It belongs to my granny, but she didn't want it anymore. I love it.
(this is where you see that we weren't actually in Paris. Please ignore this.)
BB: Thing to cut things with?
Z: My teeth (my braces help as well!)
BB: Song?
Z: Sorry - Kyteman
BB: Day in the year?
Z: St. Patricksday (17th of March) because it's my birthday!
BB: Picture?
Z: It's a photo I made of a friend of mine. It's one of my best!

BB: Movie?
Z: I seriously don't know.
BB: Work of art?
Z: Designing clothes.
BB: I actually meant a piece of art, you know? a painting or something.
Z: Oh. Mona Lisa then.
BB: What? Mona Lisa herself?
Z: No. the painting.
BB: Okay. Animal?
Z: Mona Lisa is not an animal!
BB: I know. it was the next question. What's your favourite animal?
Z: Oh. Cat and Owl.
BB: Thing to do on a rainy sunday?
Z: [starts to sing] Lazy sundayafternoon, I've got no right to worry. [she looks a bit dreamy into the air. it's rather cute. Then she notices me staring at her and composes herself] probably reading and listening to old LP's.
BB: Word?
Z: Probably probably. And to be puzzled.
BB: Sentence?
Z: The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love, and be loved in return.
BB: Last one; website?
Z: Are you kiddin' me? http://justbecause-magazine.blogspot.com

The croissants were finished, my moleskine was full and we were both happy.
LiZa is a lovely person and I'm sure she's going to do great things for this world and this blog. Enjoy!

Nothing Personal - Bobby Blue

Bobby blue is probably the most strange girl I have ever met. She looks like me in so much ways. Par example, we both dance strange. We both write strange. We both dress strange, she more than I do but anyways. You see! Bobby Blue is a strange girl, so she is the perfect one to start an online magazine with. She lives parttime in Amsterdam, so she knows what's happening. She has the coolest friends, does the coolest things. I do think that with someone like Bobby Blue in our team we can not fail in being trendy hip and cool (<- that's how dutch commercials would describe it. I prefer calling it:) TOF!

Well let's ask some questions:

Name? Bobby Blue
Age? 18
Religion? atheist
Don't you just love these passportquestions!? Uhmm..
Your passions? fashion, art, photography, movies, music, books
What is the last thing you bought? a black dress with shoulderpads and a white shirt with black stripes and puffy shoulders :D
How did you get your last bruise? probably from my bed. My knees are all bruised because my bed is so small.
If you had to get a piercing right now, what would it be? nothing. thank you very much. Do you think you're a good person? Maybe sometimes, most times I'm not.
The price of being a sheep is boredom. the price of being a wolf is loneliness. choose one or the other with great care: wolf then. I don't like being boring or bored.
Love will tear us apart or love will save us? loooooove love will tear us apart. Depends what kind of love you have, right? I hope it will save us, but it might tear us apart (doh).
What kind of girl/boy wants to be a fool? the kind that likes foolish things?
Batman or Spiderman? Spiderman! every time. Even though batman is gay.

Favourite:
- Designer.
I don't know. Karl Lagerfield because he looks cool? Viktor and Rolf because they're cute? Ashish because it had a cool collection last year?
- Artist. Lots. I like Warhol a lot, Anselm Kiefer as well, Arnulf Rainer, and right now Jolijn Snijders.

- Work of art. there is a paintingthing by arnulf rainer that I really really like, but I can't find a picture anywhere. The dark blue version of Andy Warhol's electric Chair is amazing as well and Barnett Newman's "who's afraid of red yellow and blue" is pretty cool as well.
